Imaging the Magnetic Reversal of Isolated and Organized Molecular-Based Nanoparticles using Magnetic Force Microscopy
2015
In the race towards miniaturization in nanoelectronics, magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) have emerged as potential candidates for their integration in ultrahigh-density recording media. Molecular-based materials open the possibility to design new tailor-made MNPs with variable composition and sizes, which benefit from the intrinsic properties of these materials. Before their implementation in real devices is reached, a precise organization on surfaces and a reliable characterization and manipulation of their individual magnetic behavior are required. In this paper, it is demonstrated how molecular-based MNPs are accurately organized on surfaces and how the magnetic properties of the individual…
Half-metallic compensated ferrimagnetism with a tunable compensation point over a wide temperature range in the Mn-Fe-V-Al Heusler system
2017
The cubic Heusler compound Mn1.5FeV0.5Al with the L21 Heusler structure is the first fully compensated half-metallic ferrimagnet with 24 valence electrons. The ferrimagnetic state can be tuned by changing the composition such that the compensation point appears at finite temperatures ranging from 0 K up to 226 K, while retaining half-metallicity in the system. In this paper, the structural, magnetic and transport properties of the Mn-Fe-V-Al system are discussed. Magnetic reversal and a change of sign of the anomalous Hall effect were observed at the compensation point, which gives rise to a sublattice spin-crossing. These materials present new possibilities for potential spintronic devices…
Guided vortex motion in Nb films on facetted substrate surfaces
2003
Abstract Anisotropy of the pinning force in a superconductor can cause a guiding effect on the vortices, which leads to the appearance of new components in the galvanomagnetic quantities of the sample. In this case one can observe an additional odd magnetoresistive component with respect to magnetic field reversal. Furthermore, an even contribution to the Hall voltage is observed. Guided motion of vortices in Nb films on facetted α-Al2O3 (1 0 1 0) was found by measuring the longitudinal and transversal resistivities of three films with transport current directed parallel, perpendicular and at an angle of 45° with respect to the facet ridges. Field inversion was used to separate the even and…
